While it has proven itself to be a very capable transmission, the tuning breakthroughs of the 6.4L engines have easily found the breaking points of them. Through extensive research and development, BD has engineered a transmission and torque converter that will without a doubt outperform the stock unit, and be able to handle the rigors of whatever torture you can throw at it.
In high performance, high-load situations, the torque converter bears the brunt of the engine's force. Inferior torque converter designs can slip excessively, causing the oil to foam and boil, and the front cover to balloon, even rupture. But BD's TorqForce torque converter was specifically designed to handle the kind of punishment you dish out. Built on our premises in a state-of-the-art transmission facility, BD ProForce converters feature a stamp forged steel cover that is actually stronger than steel billet, up to triple the clutch material, furnace brazed fins and our own billet aluminum stator design that maximizes the low-speed torque characteristics of the Powerstroke engine.
